The following statement has been issued jointly by Anna Knight, Chief Executive of the Dorset Care Association, and Melanie Weatherley, Co-Chair of the Care Association Alliance:
The Dorset Care Association and the Care Association Alliance wish to express their shock and sadness following the news of the deaths of three residents at Gainsborough Care Home in Swanage.
The Dorset Care Association is supporting the staff and residents at the care home at this difficult and upsetting time, and we are pleased to hear of the many offers of support that have come from other care providers in the area.
Care homes exist to provide the very best care and protection to their residents, and standards of health and safety are extremely high across the adult social care sector in Dorset. Incidents such as these are tragic but extremely rare.
Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the families of those who have sadly died.
